Sarah Moore, a senior who plays in attack for the Wilde Lake varsity girls lacrosse team in Howard County, has been named the County Sports Zone/US Army Impact Player of the Month!

Moore was nominated for the award by Wilde Lake's varsity girls lacrosse coach, Mike Rhodovi.

"Ms. Moore is an excellent example of an impact player on and off the field," Rhodovi wrote in an email. "She is always the first one, and the last off the field. She always puts the needs of her team and teammates before herself."

On the field, Moore was a standout and selfless player for the Wildecats. She was a key contributor in the team's attack. In one seven game stretch this season, Moore scored 11 goals and racked up six assists.

Although her best spot on the field is in attack, Rhodovi said that Moore would routinely play other positions on the field to help her team. She also served as one of the Wildecats' co-captains in 2016.

Moore also thrives away from the lacrosse field. In the classroom, Moore holds a 4.31 GPA. She is a member of the National Honor Society was selected as a letterman by Wilde Lake's principal, James LeMon. Moore was also picked as the Student of the Month for this past April.

Moore is active in her community. She is a Maryland Special Olympics Volunteer, and volunteers at Therapeutic & Recreational Riding Center. Moore is also involved with the Grace Community Church Group.

With the rest of the Wilde Lake girls lacrosse team, Moore participated in a session with the Howard County Adaptive Lacrosse Program, a program whose aim is to give opportunities to play lacrosse to individuals with physical or developmental disabilities.

"Ms. Moore definitely makes an impact both on and off the field," Rhodovi wrote.

County Sports Zone would like to thank the US Army for sponsoring the Impact Player of the Month Award!
