Week 3 Football Games to Watch

Week 3 is offering up a lot of exciting games around the state of Maryland! Here are a few games to really keep an eye on:

Northwest at Blair- Blair has gotten off to a flying start and is 2-0 after wins over Northwood and B-CC. The Blazers have been scoring in bunches, putting up 48 and 57 points in the first two weeks. Northwest, the two time 4A MPSSAA state champion, is 1-1 after losing to Germantown rival Seneca Valley last week. The Jaguars topped Gaithersburg 27-0 in the first week of the season. Northwest beat Blair in the first round of the playoffs last year, 38-3.

Northwest and Blair kick off at Blair tonight at 6:30.

Old Mill at South River- South River has been one of the surprise teams of the 2015 season. Coming off a 2 win season in 2014, the Seahawks shocked defending Anne Arundel County champions Broadneck in Week 1, winning 20-17. South River followed that up with a win over Severna Park in Week 2. They now face Old Mill, last year's 4A MPSSAA state runner ups. Old Mill has won big in both of their games this season, including a 63-0 shutout of Severna Park in the first week. The Patriots beat South River 43-0 last year.

South River hosts Old Mill at 6:30 tonight.

South Hagerstown at South Carroll- South Hagerstown face their second difficult road trip of the season this week when they travel to South Carroll. South Hagerstown opened their season with a tough loss at Mervo in Baltimore City, before beating Urbana 37-7 at home last week. They'll hope to continue that momentum against South Carroll, who is 2-0 this season. The Cavaliers topped North Hagerstown in a rain-shortened contest 40-2 to open the season, before winning a thrilling game in their home opener against North Harford last week, by a final score of 36-30.

The Rebels and Cavaliers square off tonight at 7:00.

Aberdeen at Governor Thomas Johnson- This game features teams who both won their first game of the season last week. Aberdeen lost to Perry Hall at home to open up the 2015 season, before beating Perryville on the road 27-7 last week. The Eagles will be on the road once again this week, traveling roughly 80 miles to Frederick County to face Governor Thomas Johnson. TJ also lost at home in their first game of the season, falling to county rival Walkersville 35-29. The Patriots bounced back with a win over Forestville from Prince George's County, 24-20.

The game between these two teams starts at 7:00 tonight.

Bowie at Suitland- Two unbeaten teams from Prince George's County square off in this Saturday afternoon contest. The two teams have won their games in different fashions. Bowie has been able to put up a lot of points on the board in both of their games. The Bulldogs beat Westminster in Week 1 by a final score of 54-21, then topped Oxon Hill in their home opener 39-18 last week. Suitland on the other hand has been able to prevent their opponents from scoring. The Rams beat Gwynn Park at home 26-13 in Week 1. Suitland followed up that performance by winning on the road at Bladensburg 26-13. Suitland beat Bowie last year 12-6. These two teams could easily see each other again in the playoffs as both are members of the 4A South region.

Bowie and Suitland kick off this Saturday at 2:00.
