Myron Williams Jr., quarterback for the Edgewood High School varsity football team in Harford County, has been named the U.S. Army/County Sports Zone Impact Player of the Month for October!

Williams, a senior, is the second recipient of the award. He has been described as a humble person who excels even when he has to deal with adversity. An example of this is when he tried out for quarterback last year and was not named the starter. Instead of focusing on that disappointment, he put all his energy into being one of Edgewood's starting safeties. He thrived in that role, being named 1st team all conference and 2nd team all county.

Williams is also an excellent teammate, often driving teammates to and from after school team events. From a leadership perspective, Williams is never one to get down on his teammates. H always trys to remain positive no matter what the situation is.

Within the school community, Williams volunteers to work the concession stand at different athletic events. He is a manager for the volleyball team, as well as a member of the yearbook committee. For the yearbook committee, he has to be at every sporting event, something Williams enjoys because it means he gets to capture priceless moments for his peers.

Away from school, Williams is also an active community member. He volunteers to speak to elementary school aged kids about the importance of education and teamwork. Williams also tutors his younger brother in math. This past summer, Williams helped teach football to a group of kids ranging from ages 6-16 at a youth camp put on by the Fellowship Christian Program.

In addition to football, Williams plays for Edgewood's baseball and basketball teams. Despite all his extra curricular commitments, he has remained an honor role student throughout high school.

Looking ahead, Williams is hoping to play either football or baseball in college while studying sports medicine. He already has a few offers from different schools but he has not decided where he wants to go.

County Sports Zone would like to thank the U.S. Army for sponsoring the Impact Player of the Month award, as well as the WICKipedia.
